Integrated Pest Management of the Glassy-winged Sharpshooter and the Diseases it Transmits

On this web site you will find a wealth of information detailing resources available to help identify, manage and control Pierce's disease and glassy-winged sharpshooters.

Workgroup Objectives

The primary objective of this UC-DANR workgroup is to organize and bring DANR expertise and resources to bear on the very real and immediate threat to California's agricultural systems by the glassy-winged sharpshooter and the Xylella diseases it vectors. This is necessarily a long-term, multidisciplinary, multi-campus effort that involves University scientists and advisors as well and contributions from CDFA, USDA, and the private sector.

For the 2000-2001 fiscal year, we have received UC-DANR funding to support four activities

The activities and role of the workgroup will ultimately assist in the coordination and implementation of a statewide IPM program for the control of this insect-disease complex.
